The use of MIDAS transport allowed us to keep the cost down, and including neckers, insurance, and everything apart from food, we got the cost to £100, for a five-day trip (Wednesday to Sunday). Considering the subject matter, everyone agreed that this was money well spent.
Logistics
With thanks to LCC Youth and Community, we took their 9 seater caravelle over to Belgium via Norfolk Lines ferries. Setting off at 5pm on the 10th November dropped us into the town of Ypres at about 0430, giving us chance to visit the Menin gate at dawn before everyone else arrived. During the trip, we stayed just outside the town of Ypres in some budget hotel accommodation, although through our contacts there we've now got details of a self-catering bunkhouse and a Scout campsite about 5 miles away - so our choices are a bit more varied for next year!
